Reopening of Paddlesports – Kayak Club

Craigavon Watersports Centre is reopening Kayak Club Sessions from Wednesday 16th September.

Everyone must book online in advance, under no circumstances should you arrive at the centre without booking in advance. Online bookings help us to restrict number of people at the centre at any one time and help with contact tracing should it arise.

THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ACTIVITY:

  • Only previous club members can attend.
  • Participants must be aged 10+ years old.
  • Each paddler must fill out a Covid Consent Form .

Club sessions will run every Wednesday evening from 16th September,  6:00 pm – 8:00 pm until 30th September.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Daily session fee: £8.50 per adult, £6.50 per concession – Payable each week via booking link below.

Reopening of Craigavon Kayak Club

In advance of your kayak club session

  • If you are ill or have symptoms, stay at home.
  • Upon arrival at centre maintain social distancing with your fellow paddlers.
  • Use hand sanitizer provided.
  • Changing rooms can accommodate 3 paddlers at one time to maintain social distancing. Face masks will be mandatory inside the changing rooms and showering will not permitted.
  • Use of own equipment is advised were possible.
  • Any borrowed equipment will be sanitized prior to use and sanitized again once session complete. Wet suits and equipment will be sanitized and stored for minimum of 72 hours after use.
  • Toilet facility will be available to use (if necessary), remember to wear a face mask in enclosed spaces. Wash hands before and after.
  • The club coach will give training on sanitizing borrowed equipment.
  • Adhere to social distancing on slipway before launch.
  • Use the one-way system for entry and exit.
  • Online booking only.

During the session - on the water.

  • Paddle sport participation lends itself quite naturally to social distancing while on water, self rescue will be used except for emergency situations.
  • Throughout your session do not share equipment.
  • Participants will adhere to social distancing while exiting water.

After the session

  • Participants must follow the signs for exiting the area.
  • Sanitize all borrowed equipment at the cleaning station.
  • Maintain social distancing while changing, showering will not be permitted. Remember you must wear your face mask in enclosed spaces.
  • Do not congregate outside the office or changing rooms. Please return directly to your vehicle after changing, and promptly leave the carpark.

Additional guidelines

  • Bring your own hydration to the centre.
  • Please adhere to the social distancing rules before during and after your session.
  • You should arrive 20 minutes before your session is due to start to receive the safety brief
  • Use the hand sanitizer provided before entering the changing rooms or collecting borrowed equipment.

WHAT DOES THE KAYAK CLUB OFFER?

The club offers members the opportunity to get out onto the water to practice their paddling skills under the supervision of one of the Centre’s qualified BCU Instructors and clubs volunteer instructors. For anyone aged 10 and above who is/ has been a previous club member.

DO I NEED MY OWN BOAT AND EQUIPMENT?

No, the club uses the Centre’s equipment i.e. boats, wet suits, cags and buoyancy aids etc. However we are encouraging participants who has their own equipment to bring it with them to each session. You will need to bring with you the following: swimsuit, old trainers you do not mind getting wet, towel and toiletries.

DOES THE CLUB OFFER MEMBERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN BCU QUALIFICATIONS?

The club offers members personal performance awards and safety and rescue certificates.

CAN I PAY ON THE DAY?

We will be accepting ONLINE BOOKINGS ONLY,  under no circumstances should you arrive at the centre without booking in advance. Online bookings help us to restrict number of people at the centre at any one time and help with contact tracing should it arise.

You will not be able to pay on the day.
