DfC Neighbourhood Renewal Cycle Sessions

COVID-19 has seen many of us take to our bikes for travel, exercise, fun and fresh air.
We are delighted to be able to offer safe cycling activities for groups, individuals and family bubbles, for residents of the Neighbourhood Renewal areas.

Regular cycling is a great way to improve your fitness, often without actually realising it.
The health benefits of regular cycling include:
• Increased cardiovascular fitness
• Increased muscle strength and flexibility
• Improved joint mobility
• Decreases stress levels
• Improved posture and coordination
• Strengthened bones
• Decreased body fat levels
• Prevention or management of diseases.

Who are the cycling sessions for?

The cycling sessions are for anyone living in the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas of Armagh, Craigavon, Lurgan and Portadown. Groups, individuals and family bubbles can book sessions.
Family sessions are for all ages, under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

How do i book a session?

Once successfully registered, visit the booking system here chose a date and book your place.

How many places are available each session?

There are 10 places available each session.

When are the sessions?

Sessions are available between mid-July and the end of August.

Where does the session take place?

Sessions start and finish at Craigavon Watersports Centres, situated within the grounds of the Civic Centre.

What type of bikes are available?

The following bikes and associated safety equipment are available:

Mountain bikes

Children bikes suitable for children aged three years upwards

Balance bikes

Double Child bike trailers for children aged one year upwards

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are FREE.

Who will deliver the session?

A qualified cycling instructor will oversee all sessions. The instructor will lead group and individual sessions, while during the family sessions, parents may choose to go at the pace of their child.

What do I need to bring with me?

All activities take place outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather.

There will be limited access to changing and toilet facilities, so please arrive dressed for the activity.

Bring a water bottle and a snack.
