FUN, FUN, FUN across the borough with the expansion of the getactiveabc Crazy Summer Schemes

This is the first year that getactiveabc will be running Crazy Summer Schemes in Dromore Community Centre and Rathfriland Community Centre and our staff are planning an exciting programme of activities to keep children, aged 5 -12, inspired, smiling and engaged throughout the three-week summer scheme.

One of the things that makes the getactiveabc Crazy Summer Schemes unique is that whilst other sports camps tend to focus on a single sport, our schemes offer a whole variety of activities during the week. allowing children to try many different sports and activities at a young age, broadening their interests and knowledge in physical activity. The different facilities at each centre allows the programme to be developed locally to maximise the fun and enjoyment.

With a changing daily agenda, children can enjoy a diverse range of sporting activities from dodgeball to relay races, obstacle courses to 5-a-side football and rounders. There is plenty of down time too with arts and crafts, themed days and challenges. Children are encouraged to have their own ideas about which activities they’d like to do during the day, and we try to fit in as many as possible.

All activities take place under the supervision of qualified coaches and experienced leaders – individuals who bring with them enthusiasm, knowledge of cutting-edge coaching and teaching methods, and the ability to relate to and inspire the younger generation. Newly recruited staff for the summer schemes complete a comprehensive induction programme with a strong emphasis on risk management and pastoral care, ensuring we get the best staff to enthuse your children this holiday!

We want everyone to leave the Crazy Summer Scheme with a huge smile on their face, a bit fitter and healthier, more confident from engagement in a range of team activities and from new friendships made over the holidays!
