Watersports Frequently Asked Questions

We  can’t wait to welcome you to South Lake Watersports, Craigavon. Please read our frequently asked questions to answer the common queries.

Do I need to pre-book?

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, all participants must be able to swim 25 metres while wearing a buoyancy aid and be confident in the water.

If you are attending the Aqua Inflatable Park, please note that participants are required to swim out to the park.

Are there changing and showering facilities?

Yes, there are extensive changing and showering facilities available at South Lake Watersports Centre.

Lockers are also available for securing personal belongings during your visit. Possessions are left in lockers entirely at your own risk.

What do I need to bring with me?

South Lake Watersports will provide the following as part of your booking:

  • Buoyancy aid
  • Wetsuit [compulsory]
  • Helmet [compulsory for specific activities]

What you need to bring:

  • Appropriate footwear to that you don’t mind getting wet [open toe sandals or flip-flops are not permitted]
  • Swimwear
  • Towel and toiletries for showering and changing afterwards

Important Reminders:

  • Jewellery and watches must be removed before you enter the park, including all rings and earrings.

How long do sessions last and what time do I need to arrive?

Sessions last one hour [unless otherwise stated] and participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to your session.

The meet up for the safety brief is 5 mins before the start of your session and if you miss the safety brief you will not be able to participate in the activity. If the later session has space we may be able to get you on but we cannot guarantee this.
PLEASE NOTE: It is your responsibility to arrive in good time. You are not eligible for a refund if you miss your session start time.

What happens if South Lake Watersports has to close due to adverse weather conditions?

South Lake Watersports cannot open during high winds or adverse weather conditions (lightening). If we close the centre due to weather conditions this is to ensure the safety of all customers and we will reschedule your session.

If a customer decides not to come to their session because it is raining / windy, but the park is still open, then our normal cancellation policy will apply.

Can I cancel my booking?

We have a 48 hour cancellation policy, if you cancel within this time you will lose your payment. If you give us more than 48 hour notice we will try our best to reschedule your booking or add a credit to your getactivabc account. We do not offer refunds.

Can I extend the activity for longer than one hour or book another activity?

Yes to both questions, you just need to add another consecutive session onto your booking, and make us aware on arrival you have more than one session booked.

Where can I store my possessions?

We have lockers for your possessions. Possessions are left in lockers entirely at your own risk.

What footwear is required on the inflatable obstacle course?

Participants using the Aqua Park must wear suitable footwear at all times during the session and while moving around the facility. Acceptable options include wetsuit boots, aqua socks or trainers. Flip-flops, sandals, or bare feet are not permitted for safety reasons.

Can I wear spectacles and jewellery on the inflatable obstacle course?

It is strongly advised NOT to wear your spectacles on the inflatable obstacle course, contact lenses or prescription goggles are our recommended alternative. Swimming goggles are allowed.

Do I have to wear a wetsuit?

Yes, wearing a wetsuit is compulsory for all participants and we provide wetsuits as standard with your booking.

What about medical conditions?

During the safety briefing on arrival, all participants will be asked if they can hear the briefing clearly and if they have any medical conditions that may make them unfit to take part in this physically demanding activity.

The Inflatable Aqua Park is not suitable for pregnant women. Participants must be fit enough to pull themselves out of the water and it can be very tiring. Participation in this activity is not advised if you have a heart condition or a pre-existing injury, particularly joints or dislocations.

Can I hire equipment and go out on my own?

Our Pay & Play sessions allow you to hire sit-on-top single or tandem kayaks and paddleboards to explore Craigavon Lakes from the water. These must be booked in advance during the session times and are FREE to getactiveabc single, family and corporate members. You can book your hire via the website or getactiveabc app.

Are there onsite catering facilities?

Yes, our restaurant Cafe Incredable is open all day for refreshments and food.

Is there car parking?

Yes, we have an extensive free car park next to South Lake Watersports.
