Top tips to motivate yourself for a winter walk!
January 19, 2024
Let’s get you good to go for a winter walk. Sometimes taking the first step can be the hardest, and once it’s done, there’s no stopping you! Getting outdoors into the fresh air can do wonders for our physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Here are some top tips to help motivate and inspire you:
- As the saying goes – ‘There’s no such thing as bad weather – just inappropriate clothes.” Having the right gear is important and you don’t need to spend a fortune. A waterproof jacket, hat, thick socks and some layers (and perhaps a backpack, depending on your plans). Layering up means you can strip back as you warm up, which is inevitable with walking!
- Be flexible and see where your mood takes you. If you decide to walk for longer than you initially planned, Keep going.
- Some people have a music playlist or podcast to get started and others prefer to tune into nature when outdoors. See what works for you. Once you start to notice what’s going on in nature, you’ll be amazed!
- Don’t be afraid to do things at your own pace. The important thing is to enjoy what you’re doing and then the rest will fall into place.
