We’ve got your May bank holiday weekend sorted!

April 30, 2026

We have great family activities lined up for the first May bank holiday weekend! Spend time in or on the water with South Lake Watersports, on your feet and clocking up the steps in local parks and open spaces or on wheels taking on the black paths and scenic routes, all bursting with spring colour and sounds!

Enjoy the outdoors

Make a splash with the South Lake Watersports activity day (Mon 4 May)! With kayaking, paddleboarding, archery, climbing and cycling, there’s plenty to keep you active and entertained, on and off the water.

Do something different or try something new with the ‘Learn to Paddleboard/Kayak’ sessions, which are ideal for kids, adults and families or go your own way and explore the lake and surrounding area with bicycle, kayak, canoe and paddleboard hire (these activities are free for getactiveabc single, family and corporate members)!

Kids, families and groups can get adventurous with snowtubing, skiing, snowboarding and footgolf at Craigavon Golf and Ski Centre or tee off for 9 or 18 holes at Silverwood Golf Course!

Local parks and open spaces, walking and cycling trails, glens and woods are open and bursting with fabulous colours and energetic wildlife to keep you on your toes (May is also National Walking Month)! From Oxford Island, Gosford and Loughgall to Clare Glen, Carnagh Forest, Gilford Riverside, Lurgan Park and Dromore Park – there are plenty of miles to cover!

Get moving indoors

Whatever the weather – rain or shine – your local leisure centre has you covered with swimming pools, fitness classes for all abilities, soft play areas and gym access morning, noon and night!
