National Fitness Day: be active today for a healthier tomorrow
National Fitness Day (Wednesday 16 September) is an annual campaign led by ukactive that celebrates the role physical activity plays across the UK, raising awareness of its importance in helping people lead healthier lifestyles.
Since launching in 2011, National Fitness Day has inspired millions of people to get involved each year. While bringing people together through physical activity remains at the heart of the campaign, it has evolved to encourage everyone to see the day as the start of a much bigger journey towards improved health and wellbeing.
This year’s tagline, ‘Powered by You’ highlights that everyone has a role to play and opportunity to be active – from individuals and communities to businesses, schools and hospitals.
At getactiveabc we know that being active and staying active extends far beyond an awareness day!
Through a wide range of indoor and outdoor leisure programmes and activities, we work with schools, children, young families, adults and older people to encourage positive habits around movement and exercise to promote better health and wellbeing.
Through ‘Get Businesses Moving’ and corporate memberships, we help businesses to make employee health and wellbeing a priority that bring benefits to both organisations and their greatest asset – their people.
Our Physical Activity Referral Scheme is designed to support people who are rehabilitating and getting back to better health after an illness or an accident and those learning to live with and manage a life-changing diagnosis.
Whatever your stage in life, getactiveabc has something to help you get active and moving to better health and wellbeing.
