Growing a healthier workforce: Oakleaf Forestry joins ABC Get Businesses Moving programme
County Armagh-based Oakleaf Forestry is the latest business to join forces with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough (ABC) Council’s Get Businesses Moving programme to motivate and support its workforce to get active and moving for better health and wellbeing.
Based in Portadown, the company is the UK and Ireland’s leading supplier of Europe’s finest firewood and forestry machinery.
Through the ABC Get Businesses Moving initiative, the council will work closely with Oakleaf Forestry to explore, co-ordinate and plan effective ways of encouraging all 10 employees across office-based and engineering roles to lead active, fulfilling lives, inside and outside the workplace.
Welcoming the get moving partnership, Joe Litter, Oakleaf Forestry Director said: “We’re delighted to join the Get Moving programme that will create more opportunities for our team to get active. With a varied workforce across office, engineering, production and forestry-related roles, we know that health, wellbeing and physical activity can look very different from one person to the next.
“Our aim is to work with the council team to make the movement practical, inclusive and relevant to real life, giving employees the chance to try different activities, get involved as a team and find something that works for them.”
As a Get Businesses Moving partner, Oakleaf Forestry will enjoy a range of health and well-being benefits including support and guidance on designing workplace wellbeing activities, ABC Council’s Couch to 5K/10K programmes, participation in the annual Get Businesses Moving Games, active travel scheme, NI Chest, Heart and Stroke’s ‘Live Well Work Well’ programme and much more!
ABC Get Businesses Moving is supported by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Sport NI, The Community and Voluntary Sector Panel, Public Health Agency, Education Authority, NI Chest Heart and Stroke, Ulster GAA and ABC Council.
