Aims of the Diversionary Activities Project:

✅ Increase sporting opportunities for young people

✅ Increase physical activity levels of participants

✅ Develop social, cross community and good relations opportunities

✅ Provide diversionary activities for this identified target age group [12-17yrs]

This programme is funded by the Department for Communities and Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council. The project is fully organised and delivered by the Council’s Sports Development Team.

FRIDAY NIGHT SPORTS CLUB

Packed with fun activities like dodgeball, the gaming bus, jewellery making, games, basketball and much more –  there’s something for everyone.

Bring your friends and make new ones in a safe, energetic, and welcoming space.

SKATE AND CREATE

Try out skateboarding with our free taster sessions and get creative by designing your very own skateboard deck in our hands-on art workshop.

Date | Starting Friday 11 July [6 week programme]

Session 1 | 10-12 years | 2.00pm – 3.00pm | Solitude Park, Banbridge

Session 2 | 13-15 years | 3.30pm – 4.30pm | Solitude Park, Banbridge

Art Workshop | 18 July | 2.00pm – 5.00pm | Banbridge Leisure Centre

Each participant will be given a skateboard deck for their design during the art workshop

What are Diversionary Activities?

The Diversionary Activities project is a FREE initiative for participants aged 12-17 which aims to provide a number of community youth diversionary participation opportunities in the form of sports and physical activity to help combat ASB across the ABC Borough.  These have typically been delivered as Street Sports (ie: Street Soccer, Midnight Soccer, Street Basketball) but can come in many forms.  Alongside the sporting opportunities, participants will also take part in a range of other workshops and activities focusing on good relations, health awareness, team building, music. dance and creativity.

Who is the project for?

The Diversionary Activities project is for young people aged between 12 – 17 years who are interested in getting active in their community.

Where are Diversionary Activities held?

At various indoor and outdoor leisure venues across the ABC Borough
