Watersports Frequently Asked Questions
We can’t wait to welcome you to South Lake Watersports, Craigavon. Please read our frequently asked questions to answer the common queries.
Are there onsite catering facilities?
Yes, our restaurant Cafe Incredable is open all day for takeaway refreshments and food.
Are there changing and showering facilities?
Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, our male and female changing facilities and lockers are not open. Particpants will need to arrive beach-ready, changed in watersports clothing or able to change outdoors. Use of the toilets will be allowed with a limit of two people in the toilets at any one time.
Do I need to pre-book?
Due to the current circumstances we are only accepting advanced online bookings. Our reception is closed and cash payments are not possible at this time.
What do I need to bring with me?
South Lake Watersports will provide the following :-
- Buoyancy aid.
- Wetsuit are compulsory and included in the price
- Helmet for specific activities
Clothing requirements
Trainers or wetsuit boots ( no open toe sandals or flip-flops )
Bathing costume
Towel and toiletries
Jewellery and Watches must be removed before you enter the park. This includes ALL rings & earrings. If you have recently had any piercings you must apply tape to cover them.
GoPro Cameras can be used but ONLY hand held. We cannot be held responsible for any damage or lost devices – wearing a camera is at your own risk.
Is there car parking?
Yes, we have an extensive free car park next to South Lake Watersports.
What happens if South Lake Watersports has to close due to adverse weather conditions?
South Lake Watersports cannot open during high winds or adverse weather conditions (lightening). If we close the centre due to weather conditions this is to ensure the safety of all customers and we will reschedule your session.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes, you must be able to swim 50m with a buoyancy aid on and be confident in the water.
How long do sessions last and what time do I need to arrive?
Sessions last one hour and, in the current circumstances, we are asking you to arrive beach-ready as our changing facilities are closed.
Advanced booking will enable your equipment to be pre-organised and ready for use on arrival with quick collection. The meet up for the safety brief is 5 mins before the start of your session and if you miss the safety brief you will not be able to participate in the activity. If the later session has space we may be able to get you on but we cannot guarantee this.
PLEASE NOTE: It is your responsibility to arrive in good time. You are not eligible for a refund if you miss your session start time.
Can I cancel my booking?
We have a 48 hour cancellation policy, if you cancel within this time you will lose your payment. If you give us more than 48 hour notice we will try our best to reschedule your booking or add a credit to your getactivabc account. We do not offer refunds.
What happens if it is raining?
We go ahead as you will be getting wet anyway! If a customer decides not to come to their session because it is raining / windy, but the park is still open, then our normal cancellation policy will apply.
Can I extend the activity for longer than one hour or book another activity?
Yes to both questions, you just need to add another consecutive session onto your booking, and make us aware on arrival you have more than one session booked.
Can I hire equipment and go out on my own?
Yes, if you have competence and the necessary prior experience.
Is there a car park?
Yes, we have extensive onsite parking facilities. Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Council deemed accessibility to be one of the most important aspects of the design and build of South Lake Leisure Centre and every detail of the now award-winning facilities was considered, right down to the bays in our car park. Our facility includes ample general parking spaces as well as disability access spaces, bays for electric car charging and dedicated parking spaces for mothers & babies and families.
Where can I store my possessions?
We have lockers for your possessions. Possessions are left in lockers entirely at your own risk.
Can I wear spectacles on the inflatable obstacle course?
It is strongly advised not to wear your spectacles on the inflatable obstacle course, contact lenses or prescription goggles are our recommended alternative. Swimming goggles are allowed.
Where can I store my possessions?
We have lockers for your possessions. Possessions are left in lockers entirely at your own risk.
Do I need to remove all jewellery to go on the inflatable obstacle course?
Yes, with the exception of a wedding band, all jewellery must be removed, including all removable earrings. You will be asked to remove any jewellery at check in. If you have recently had any piercings we would advise tape to cover them.
Do I have to wear a wetsuit?
Yes it is compulsory to wear a wetsuit, if you have your own wetsuit you are welcome to bring it along, otherwise we have them available to hire on arrival.
Can I wear shoes on the inflatable obstacle course?
No, you cannot wear wetsuit boots, shoes or trainers on the water park as they may damage the park. You can wear cotton socks, aqua socks or wetsuit socks.
What about medical conditions?
On arrival, during the safety briefing, all participants will be asked if they can hear the brief, suffer from any medical conditions rendering them unfit to take part in this physically exerting activity. The inflatable obstacle course and banana boat package is not suitable for pregnant women. You will need to be fit enough to pull yourself up out of the water, and it can be very tiring. This activity is not advised if you have a heart condition or have a pre-existing injury, particularly joints or dislocations.
