Once you start, there’s no stopping you!
The beauty of the Couch to 5K programme is that everyone is starting out in the same boat! This is something that appealed to Sarah, who like everyone else, was a complete novice in running.
Sarah says: “I wanted to get fit and enjoy the benefits that go along with being fitter. I loved the fact that through the programme I was meeting new people on the same fitness level and together we would be supporting and motivating each other.”
Since competing the programme, Sarah has gone on to do parkruns, the Hillsborough 10K running festival, Born2Run races, G8 in Dundrum, Sea2Sky 10K and Dambusters 10K! Sarah has just recently completed the Forest Run series too. These days she runs 3 times a week and admits she’s loving it.
Sarah adds: “Looking back to where I started and where I am now, running for one and a half hours without stopping, I never thought that would be me!
“My advice to anyone who is thinking about getting fitter for whatever reason is – stop talking about it and just do it – sign up for Couch to 5K. It’s not easy but you can do it. You’ll feel great and you never know where the running will take you!”
Sarah has her own little fan club at the races! Millie, her 3-year-old daughter loves to collect the end of race medals and encourages her mummy to keep them coming!
