SPLASH SESSIONS AT SOUTH LAKE LEISURE CENTRE

Whizz down the slides, get soaked by the friendly fish fountains and get rained on by our funky flowers!!

Splash sessions no longer need to be booked online in advance. Sessions are one hour long, both members and non members should check in at reception to receive your wristband.

FAMILY SWIMS AT BANBRIDGE LEISURE CENTRE

Family Swims at Banbridge Leisure Centre

Families swim at Banbridge is £11.00 for 2 adults and 2 children to use the main pool, leisure pool and toddler area during normal pool opening times. No advance booking required.

DISABILITY SWIMMING FOR ORCHARD LEISURE CENTRE

Disability Swimming

The Orchard Leisure Centre in Armagh offer Disability Swim Sessions on Saturdays from 3.00pm until 4.00pm and Sundays from 3.30pm – 4.30pm.

  • Participants with a disability will have the opportunity to swim for FREE at their own pace within a lane allocated solely for them for the entire session.
  • A carer will be permitted FREE entry into the same lane, only if the person with the disability needs assistance.
  • 6 individual lanes are available per 1 hour disability swim session.
  • Pre booking is essential. If booking a disability swim session for the 1st time at the Orchard Leisure Centre, please register by telephoning reception on 028 37515920, you will be asked to provide proof of disability such as Disability Living Allowance(DLA), P.I.P or ‘Blue Badge’ holder on your 1st visit to the Centre. Any future bookings can be booked via the Swim timetable online.

Family swims | splash sessions

It is no longer a requirement to book swimming in advance with the exception of the learner pool for family swims at the Orchard Leisure Centre.  These sessions can be booked in advance online or via the getactiveabc App, by selecting ‘buy tickets’.

Disability Swimming 

Disability Swim sessions at the Orchard Leisure Centre on Saturday & Sunday are bookable online via the timetable here. QUIET HOUR SWIM SESSIONS

Orchard Leisure Centre, Armagh
Suitable for anyone with Additional Needs

Tuesday | 6.15pm – 7.15pm
Thursday | 6.15pm – 7.15pm

Participants may be accompanied by ONE parent / guardian / helper in the pool. Please note: only book online for participants, parent/guardian/helper do NOT need to book online.

LEARN TO SWIM

The Swim School is affiliated with the STA’s [Swimming Teacher’s Association] International Learn to Swim Programme.

The programme is supported with a range of badges and certificates

Ability groupings are taught by fully qualified swim teachers

A swim school management software system is used

The parental home portal allows parents/guardians to review a child’s weekly progress, online payments, online booking and course history.

One-to-one or small group lessons for learners of all ages.

Lifesaving qualifications

Local swimming and water polo clubs to further develop skills

SWIMMING FOR EVERYONE

The pool at South Lake Leisure Centre was designed to include enhanced accessibility features:

Pod lift enabling independent pool entry using a bespoke wheelchair or standing on the platform.

Movable pool floor to provide shallower depths.

Walk-in pool steps for easy entry.

Wet side ‘Changing Places’ facility with ceiling track hoist, height adjustable changing bench and accessible toilet, sink and shower facilities.

I AM OVER 60 YEARS OF AGE, DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A SWIM SESSION?

60 years of age and over may swim free of charge; however, proof must be shown to the receptionist in the facility.

I HAVE A DISABILITY, DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A SWIM SESSION?

People in receipt of DLA, PIPs or have a blue badge may swim free of charge; however, proof must be shown to the receptionist in the facility.

CHILD ADMISSION POLICY FOR SWIMMING

To help provide the safest possible environment for children to enjoy the many benefits of swimming, the following adult: child supervision ratios apply to the pools in Banbridge Leisure Centre, South Lake Leisure Centre, and Orchard Leisure Centre.

Child Admissions Policy:

  1. All children under 4 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult / person (over 16 years), on a one-to-one basis, when using the competition, or leisure pools.
  2. Children aged between 4 – 7 years (under 8) must be accompanied by a responsible adult / person (over 16 years), with a maximum of 2 children being supervised by 1 adult.
  3. The requirements of the Child Admission Policy means that for example, one adult will not be able to gain admission to the water with three children under 8 years, and that a child under 4 years and one between 4 – 7 years (under 8) must be accompanied by 2 responsible adults.
  4. Controlled sessions only (see below for definition of controlled sessions) – During the listed sessions one responsible adult over 16 years of age can accompany a maximum of 2 children under 8 years into the water.
  5. Children must be 8+ years and able to swim without aids to be allowed in any pool without adult supervision.
  6. The responsible person must remain within reaching distance of the child at all times they cannot leave the to go for a swim or enter another pool.
