Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council Health and Recreation Department
The STA’s International Pool Lifeguard course trains learners in pool rescue skills, CPR techniques, first aid and dealing with poolside emergencies. This course is aimed at people who would like to become a pool lifeguard. Learners must be able to swim competently and be able to surface dive down to the deepest part of the bottom of the pool floor.

Monday – Tuesday | 9:00am – 5:00pm
Wednesday – Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm
Saturday | 8:00am – 12:00pm [exam]
£280 per person | Participants must be 16 years of age.
Swim Test
Anyone interested must complete a swim test before being offered a place on the course, swim tests are available on the following dates / times and must be booked on the below link.
- 18 November 6:00pm
- 19 November 7:00pm
- 21 November 8:30pm
On successful completion of the course, learners will be issued with a STA International Pool Lifeguard Certificate. This course is valid for 3 years
