Carnagh Forest is a coniferous woodland south of Keady. The forest is 115 hectares and includes a 12 hectare nature reserve.
The beautiful nature reserve is full of birch, beech and ash trees and is extremely popular with the local community for walking, fishing and spending time in nature.
There are three accessible walking trails that can be accessed from the small carpark next to the bespoke play area.
The play area features a maze, squirrels drey, a basket swing, rabbet carvings and a ground trampoline. Picnic tables provide the perfect spot for some rest and relaxation.
The larger of the two Lakes is managed by DEARA and a course fishing licence and permit are required. Wildfowl and otters can also be seen in and around the lakes.
The ‘Principles of Leave no Trace’ apply within the forest ie everyone is encouraged to take their rubbish home with them.
