Lurgan Park is Northern Ireland’s largest and most beautiful urban park and Ireland’s second largest urban park, the biggest being Phoenix Park in Dublin. Tucked in behind the market town of Lurgan, the park can be described as a ‘hidden gem’. The Park was once part of the Brownlow estate and is still overlooked by Brownlow House today.
Located around an expansive man-made lake, the park has 5 km of pathways through mature woodland and open grassland. There is over 250 acres to roam, with many paths for walking, a super play area, tennis courts, bowling green, cricket wicket, football pitches and large green spaces.
The lake offers an excellent setting for a spot of course angling. Tennis courts can only be booked 48 hours in advance of play and bookings can be made here. Mobility scooters can be borrowed free of charge for those less able to access the park. To book a mobility scooter, please contact the Parks Development Officer on 07766740427 (pre-booking is essential).
The majestic Coalbrookdale Fountain takes pride of place at the top of the main avenue in the park and is always a focal point for young and old. Made of cast iron, this fountain is one of the remaining four of its type left in the world!
