Solitude Park

Solitude Park is a natural oasis at the very heart of Banbridge. An urban park, covering 10.5 acres in Banbridge town centre, Solitude Park offers a perfect place for; a break from shopping, to stretch your legs, have a picnic, or enjoy the range of events which take place throughout the year. It is an ideal location to simply relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the River Bann as it meanders through the park.

A major refurbishment of the park was carried out in 2009 adding public artworks, an outdoor amphitheatre, an urban dance zone, parking and public toilets. Ornamental gardens were introduced designed to reflect the proud industrial heritage of the area recognising the railway line and linen mills. A state of the art children’s play area was officially opened in July 2016, attracting families from far and wide.

The free-to-use urban sports facility caters for young people aged 10+ years interested in skateboarding, BMX and in-line skating. It features two levels with a pocket corner and curved bank at opposite ends, the higher central level offers banks on the sides with London gap ledges and a wallie penny with a bank hip and table top on the opposite level. A large area of slab allows room for beginners to practice their “ollies” and to grind on the flat rails and ledges.

The Green Flag Award winning Park offers something for everyone. Whether you want to get active at the open air gym or simply enjoy relaxing outdoors with a book borrowed from the ‘Little Library’ you will find something to do in picturesque Solitude Park.
